The old woman wants something, and she won’t leave until she gets it.

I would like to thank the author Jessica Hernandez for sending me an arc of this book! This is the 3rd book I have read of hers. I read her duology The Hawk of Stone and I absolutely loved it and I did fall in love with her writing too. So I expected no different with this one! And I did! I fell in love with this book it wowed me, there was some points where I was like okay what’s going off but overall it was amazing.

The supernatural gifted aspect was very confusing for me when it came to the scarlet one, I was so confused but I loved it. I liked not really having a clue about it because it reflected what the characters were feeling too so I thought that was great!

Halfway through this I kind of guessed why the parents disappeared well I thought I did and then it just went a completely different way I’m trying to be vague so you aren’t spoiled but oh my I did not expect it! I thought I had a grasp on what was happening and then it was like spun on it’s head and it was bloody brilliant! I did not expect that to happen and it was so good!

I really liked how in the first few chapters we got a lot of information about the world and what has happened it was so good and the world building in this book was A+ it was fantastic I got so engrossed into the world.

I really enjoyed the relationship between Corelle and Cayleth and it was some of my favourite parts in the book!

I really really want to go into more detail but you guys should go and read this book! You will not be disappointed. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I may end up doing a spoilery review because I just need to gush about this!

The dynamics of both clubs change forever in the wake that follows. Fate isn’t done teaching Avery that life isn’t always better with the devil you know sometimes it’s with the devil you don’t.

Oh my god this book was amazing, absolutely amazing. I have been thinking about this book for the last few days and it has still not left my head. I want more. I need more!!! I’d like to thank Terrie Arasin for sending me an arc of this it is very much appreciated!! I have never read anything from these authors I think that is very important to say so this is my first book from them and I do not think it will be my last that is for sure!

I had no idea what to expect when I picked up this arc it sounded good and interesting although when I signed up I had no idea what an MC club was I had to google it😂. But either way, I loved my entrance into this world it was a great story and I loved the plot. I loved everything! I’m not sure if this is a review or a gush but either way you are getting it!

Avery was such a strong character despite her having to marry Slade to cover up what Brenner did she takes it head on and agrees so that her fathers MC club would be protected also the fact her little brother was threatened. Her strong character was such a good thing and I loved that she would try and fight in little ways. I also loved how she began to trust Slade and began to fall for him, it was honestly so good and the banter and the feistiness she had. I loved Avery.

Slade. He was so different than to the other bikers in the story and it was so nice to see some compassion from them. I loved how he was willing to clear up after his brother’s mess by marrying Avery and how she did worm her way into his heart. Although there was sometimes where he could be an ass he still was better than the others in some aspects.

I loved their relationship, I wanted more. By the end, I just sat there like I’m hurting. I need more Slade and Avery the ending was my favourite bit ever when she goes home to him it melted my heart both of their reactions. It was one of my favourite things in the whole book obviously not going to say all my favourite because of spoilers.

I loved the plot it had running alongside the romance aspect of someone leaking information and stuff, I thought it was very clever and I did not even get where it was going and who was doing the bad stuff but I loved it. Also, Brenner is despicable I hated him, I wanted him to like get hit by a bus or something like that. He was horrid, that’s all I’m saying on that.

This book was fantastic, I will most definitely be reading the next book and I cannot wait to read it. Going to be fab. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Club Thrive: Compulsion – Alison Mello

I’ve always dreamed of being a singer, and it’s time to make that dream come true.

Life is short, and I know my parents—may they rest in peace—would have wanted me to follow my heart. So I pack my bags and head to Los Angeles.

Then my world turns sideways…

I run the hottest club in L.A., where gorgeous women flock to show skin on the dance floor. But as soon as I spot her, I know she’s different. We have a connection, something more powerful than I’ve ever felt.

But I’m not the only one who notices her. She’s getting a lot of attention on the club circuit, and the way other men look at her when she’s on stage drives me crazy.

I want her for my own, but she’s not about to let me control her. And then my past returns…

This could turn into a deadly situation.

I’d like to thank Give Me Books promotions for sending me an earc of this book, I’d like to say I really liked this book but it wasn’t that I didn’t like it as much, it was more like not really much happened. I know that Skyler had a stalker but that took like midway through the book to happen so up until that point I was kind of like is something going to happen? It was good but up until midwayish I didn’t think much happened which is why my rating isn’t that high for this book.

Skyler was a character I was unsure about, she was kind of self-acclaimed not good in relationships and she’d kind of just ruin her relationships that is until Logan comes along. Skyler at times does try and sabotage her relationship with Logan unknowingly but she does actually stay and fix it. But erm I wasn’t bothered about the fact she didn’t feel like she’d stay in a relationship I did like how just normal it was that she just wanted sex off men so I really liked how blunt that was. I thought sometimes she should have let Logan take care of her rather than fighting with him at times (like when she got out of hospital). Other than that I thought she was just an okay character.

I loved Logan as a club owner and a boss, he was really good and I liked the way he handled things when it came to his club and I also loved the relationships he had with the people who worked out the club so the bar staff and the bouncers so I really did love that. At times I thought he was kind of possessive of Skyler like way early in the relationship and I was like well that’s a bit weird like usually, you get like that when you’ve been together for a while so I was like okay. At one point I thought he was really condescending, it was just after Skyler was attacked outside her old workplace by some drunk person and then she was home from the hospital, he was treating her like a child. He was trying to take care of her but it was more like a child rather than a partner. Other than that I really liked Logan he was a good guy, he also liked showering her in gifts I liked that he wanted to just treat her right.

I couldn’t really connect with Skyler or any of the characters actually and that was a really big problem with me the fact I didn’t really connect with the characters. I like to be able to connect with them in some way to you know care about them and I didn’t. I more cared about one of the side characters (they have a spin-off story so yay) rather than the two main characters, so that affected my rating a lot.

I’ve said before that I didn’t feel like much happened in the plot not until further into the story, but I am definitely going to read the next few books and give them a chance because although not much happened I am wanting to read the other books!

As the case is investigated, Bryn is dragged into a fresh nightmare and learns that Guy is keeping things from her. Another murder occurs and Bryn realises the danger is getting ever closer to home. How well does Bryn really know the man she loves?

For fans of psychological suspense and compulsive mysteries, don’t miss this tense and page-turning novel. Before I Go to Sleep meets The Husband’s Secret.

I would like to thank NetGalley and Canelo for sending me an arc of this book much appreciated! I was really fancying reading a mystery/thriller so I was happy to pick this up and begin to read! The beginning of the story really captures you and makes you want to read more. From the first page, I couldn’t put the book down it was so gripping and I did, in fact, finish this in one sitting. I loved how suspense was built in the novel it was paced extremely well!

I wasn’t really sure about Bryn’s character at times I thought she was way too open with strangers and acquaintances, like telling them things I really don’t think should have been shared. So I didn’t really like that about her, I did like that she wasn’t willing to be lied to about anything once she discovered the truth about her husband. I loved Bryn’s thought process.

I thought the car accident was very clever way to work it into the book, all the separate plot lines really did build into one, and I thought that was very clever and it worked so well, as the story goes you begin to put things together and I loved that. I also thought the theme of memory was very good and that worked well with relating all the plots together and I did think that was brilliant. I don’t want to talk about the plot so much because of spoilers but basically, after a dinner party, the caterer is murdered and it begins a series of events I’m just going to leave it at that.

I felt like her husband was a bit dodgy, I was right. Throughout the book you are constantly unsure who you can trust and who you can’t and I didn’t trust anybody, apart from a character named Derek, I felt like he was trying to help her but other than that I really didn’t trust any of these characters. I was glad I was right about the killer. I didn’t guess who the killer was not until the moment it was revealed and I was very shocked. I liked it.

Ruck Me – Rebecca Norinne

I’ve called Aoife O’Shaughnessy a number of things, but dumb was never one of them. Through all the insane things she’s done—all the trouble she’s gotten into—I never once thought she was actually stupid.

Until now.

Because I just heard her plan to lose her virginity to the vilest human being I’ve ever met. My first thought? How the fuck is Aoife still a virgin? The second? Over my dead body.

So I volunteered for the job instead.

It might be the stupidest thing I’ve ever done, but once the words were out of my mouth I couldn’t take them back. Suddenly, I can’t stop wondering what it would be like to kiss the pink-haired sprite I’ve known my whole life, to hear her moan my name when she comes for the first time.

And now she’s wondering about me too.

It was only supposed to be sex, but now I’m in deep. I never meant to fall in love with her; this wasn’t supposed to happen. And what came next? Well, neither of us planned on that.

I loved loved loved this is the spin off story to Trying Sophie  I loved that one and this was truly no different. Rebecca’s writing is brilliant, everything she writes I truly connect with it, as well as when anything super emotional happens I can really feel the characters and what they are feeling and I really love how her writing does that to me. Just it’s the best.

I really loved Eoin and Aoife’s relationship and although they call each other a lot Eoin is very protective over Aoife and I loved it. I also loved that they had a sex talk so to speak it was so funny and awkward but I definitely imagine that is how it is in real life so I think it was funny. I loved Aoife’s innocence and that she was a virgin and for the most part, it was lovely to see where it wasn’t shamed that at her age she was except obviously feeling pressured by some of her friends but Eoin didn’t make her feel shame for it and I loved it.

We also see Declan in this novel and he is a very protective of Aoife and although he took it too far at times when it came down to it, he was there when she needed him. So I really love Declan and how all he wants to do is protect his sister.

I feel like when Aoife got pregnant she should have told someone other than her co-worker who wasn’t very supportive and that she should have either told Sophie (Declan’s partner) or Eoin, I wasn’t very pleased with how she dealt with the situation especially when the trip to London came when she wanted to have an abortion, she didn’t. I feel like she went around it the wrong way it was only as she got to London she tried to tell him but I feel like it should have been a lot sooner that she told him.

One thing with Rebecca’s writing when both of these characters were hurting for certain reasons you could feel both of their pain, frustration and love and when they break up and got back together. I felt it all from both Aofie and Eoin’s side, it was so nice and as I say that is a lot to do with the writing. But I felt both sorry for Aofie and Eoin and I didn’t think any of them were right or wrong, just felt both of their pain and it was so sad. Obviously, the story ends on a happy note and I loved it.

Such an amazing book and I definitely can’t wait to read more of her work because it’s fantastic. I rated this ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

After Our Kiss – Nora Flite

He isn’t my savior. He’s the man who’s here to break me.

I was thirteen when I was kidnapped.

Fourteen when he helped me escape.

Twenty-three before I ever saw him again.

His face is all over the news: he’s a wanted man, now. Maybe my memory played tricks on me… but he looks so different. The boy who saved me years ago had a shy smile and dark, soulful eyes full of secrets.

This man has a hard jaw and a harder mouth. Lips that could never whisper sweet promises.

I knew him as a hero—my savior. I refuse to believe he could become a villain.

Not him.

Then he abducts me, proving me wrong.

He tells me he’s going to take me apart and put me back together again. Make me what he needs me to be: a plaything for a monster.

It’s the fate I escaped when I was fourteen. And that’s when I finally understand.

He was never my hero.

He’s the man who’s going to break me.

Thank you to Social Butterfly PR for sending me a copy of this book! Much appreciated! This is a dark romance and I knew that going into but I feel the need to just remind you guys too if you want to pick up this book. It’s a dark romance but it is a happy ending if that makes a difference. I don’t really read dark romances so I haven’t actually read anything like it, I think this was actually my first dark romance (will have to check that).

Conway and Georgia I loved how their relationship built when they were kids and that although she was obviously kidnapped that she managed to find some comfort with him. I really loved that. Also how he protected her from his brother and brought her food and water when it was needed. He, in the end, helps her escape only to kidnap her a few years later. Throughout the novel you could tell that although Conway had to do this his feelings for Georgia were still most prominent and you could tell that he didn’t want to do it. The way Georgia got Conway to tell her the truth of why he was doing it, I thought she was very clever and especially not giving up on him.

I don’t want to say what the reason was or what happened in major details because I don’t want to spoil it. You really should read this book.

Georgia had faith in Conway even when he didn’t and just how they were together even when he was told to break her, she just knew there was something more. I felt so sorry for Conway the guilt he carried around with him from when he was a child when it came to his father’s hobby of kidnapping girls. The author’s writing was brilliant and it gave me so many emotions and feelings. Conway was an interesting character in that to save someone he loves he also has to hurt someone he loves, I feel like despite everything he has been through what he has done haunts him.

One thing with Georgia’s faith sometimes it felt like she was too accepting with what Conway was doing, I know they were both kind of in an impossible situation but yeah sometimes feels like too accepting.

I fell in love with this story you should all definitely pick this up! I really want to go into more detail but spoilers! I really hope you guys will pick it up!

Shane’s Truth – V.F. Mason

Falling in love was never part of the plan…

Serena is the daughter of a mogul millionaire.
New York Heiress.
Lover of the finer things and spoiled since birth.
But with dreams of becoming a designer slipping through her hands after a minor mishap.
Her father ships her off to Texas, to make her appreciate, the lifestyle she takes for granted. Can she handle living in the south, to right her wrongs, to pursue her dreams?

Living carelessly through life to dull my pain, I didn’t pay attention to my father’s threats.
When he had issued an ultimatum after yet another stunt, I thought he was joking.
Either work on the ranch in the middle of nowhere for the entire summer or lose any chance of making it as a fashion designer…
I had no choice but to agree.
Determined to follow my dreams, I traveled to Texas with one goal in mind: to prove my father wrong.
However, with all my planning, I didn’t consider one thing.

Leaving everything behind, I came here one year ago to find out the truth.
But I never expected for it to destroy so many lives.
Leaving in the aftermath, I struggled to find myself in this new world I had created…
Until she showed up, bringing more added chaos with herself than it was humanly possible.
Every part of me wanted to claim her, but succumbing to those desires was a big mistake.
We didn’t belong with each other, and I couldn’t help but feel she was hiding something.
But when did I listen to what was best?

Warning: 18+ due to sexual content, profanity, and adult subject matter. Standalone, contemporary romance.

I’d like to thank The Next Step PR for sending me an earc of this book it is very much appreciated! So this book is already released and my Amazon review already posted it was just writing the review for my blog which I can do now my hand is on the road to recovery (check out this blog post if you want to know why). This was the first novel I have read from V.F. Mason and I was really intrigued by this novel! It was such brilliant writing I found it so easy to read and it was amazing.

I loved the building of the relationship we had between Shane and Serena’s relationship, and I did fall in love with both characters. I loved how it did start with friendship and then it went into more and how he felt possessive over her when it came to other people on the ranch. I liked how she changed from the spoilt girl that arrived at the ranch to someone who became caring and that it wasn’t all about her. Being at the ranch also helped her deal with her mother’s death, a big part of my favourite thing in the novel was the flashbacks of painting we had with her mum. I loved how fleshed about both characters were and that includes all side characters in the novel. Her character growth is shown even more when Serena finally accepts her dad’s partner.

I think it was great with Shane dealing with his past and his anger, he also hated lying at the beginning of the novel due to him being lied to in terms of his family. It was great when he finally dealt with his past but I also felt he had a slight over reaction when he learnt who Serena was and I was a little that’s very drama queen-y.

All the characters had character development and I honestly loved it, and I feel like it had a lot to do with the writing also. It was a fun, sexy flirty read and I loved it! I will definitely be coming back to read more books by this author!
